Back in 1981 Fred Drexel and his wife snagged a $20,000 paycheck with this recipe at the 15th annual world’s championship chili cook-off. It is hearty. The kind of chili that doesn’t mess around. No room for much fluff like tomatoes and certainly no room for beans.
I share my grocery store with our local firemen. They park the engine out front, stock up on food for the firehouse and then get on their way…unless of course they get a call midway through their shopping trip.
So I think I should read these recipes before I dive in. I can’t believe I still haven’t learned my lesson after how many times that’s backfired along this cooking adventure.
So I promised to make three unique recipes per week. That doesn’t seem so hard when you think, there are 21 meals in a week and everyone’s gotta eat. The thing is, I promised to make them and update them. Sometimes this means a recipe is made on repeat for a week, until it is just right. Thank goodness this family isn’t super picky and embraces leftovers!
Chicken and Pineapple Salad has ladies luncheon written all over it. I’m sure this recipe was cut out for a guild meeting, or a spring kickoff affair as the articles is titled, “Salads for 15-50″.
