Pie Week: Bronze Medal goes to…Strawberry Pie
My strawberry patch is going nuts. Almost makes me look like I have a green thumb. (Don’t be fooled.) This recipe describes a classic strawberry pie with fresh berries and a strawberry glaze. I was excited for a delicious way to put the berries to use and an excuse to make the glaze from scratch as most strawberry pies use a jar of red goo that kinda grosses me out.
Buttermilk Pie
The recipe for Buttermilk Pie was handwritten on an index card in green pen. In a sea of pencil filled recipe cards I was intrigued, but the name…made me a skeptic. Another gamble was about to start but hey, at least I had a way to use up this extra buttermilk in the fridge!
Corn and Squash Mexican-Style
Memorial Day weekend is behind us which means it’s time for summer barbeques and prolific vegetable gardens. This dish is great for both! We’re spoiled here with our year-round gardens. My neighbor got a head start on her summer planting and her squash is going nuts! She dropped off a huge stash last week and I needed some more creative ways to serve it before my family started to protest.
