I think this pie made its way to plenty of parties in my childhood, but what I know is that it was at a beach front Fourth of July party when I was in middle school. I couldn’t get over the meticulously placed berries that came together in the form of an American flag. I really could not get over it…I may have taken mental notes on what the exact order is for the berries to make the perfect american flag cake.
This world is full of grandmas. Obviously my challenge here is to focus on my family’s recipes but I’m going to default to a different grandma’s recipe collection in this case.
I’ve never been much of an olive fan. I actually kinda despise them…very publicly. But I’ve been keeping a secret… a deep, dark secret. I’ve known for a long time that there is some sort of cheddar, cheesy olive spread that I love. I hadn’t known what it was until this recipe resurfaced.
I have never heard of this pie, or even this flavor combo until I came across the recipe for Peach Walnut Pie. I had to go for it because everyone in this house is a sucker for both walnuts and peaches.
Nothing is more American than apple pie, except maybe, arguing about who makes the best apple pie or what the secret to perfect apple pie is.
